Abstract

The study was conducted during the rabi season of 2022–2023 at the Research farm of Amar Singh College,
Lakhaoti, Bulandshahr District, Uttar Pradesh. The experiment used a randomized block design (RBD) and
contained 9 treatment combinations with 3 replications. The following parameters were observed plant height,
number of leaves per plant, leaf width, leaf area, shoot fresh weight, shoot dry weight, root length, root diameter,
days to harvest, weight of whole plant, fresh root weight, dry root weight, root yield kg/plot, root yield t/ha, total
soluble solid content of roots, root forking & cracking percentage, and root pithiness percentage with these
treatments like T0
(30×10 cm), T1 (30×05 cm) T2 (30×15 cm), T3 (40×05 cm), T4 (40×10 cm) T5 (40×15 cm) T6 (50×05
cm), T7 (50×10 cm), T8 (50×15 cm). The result of the study revealed that the maximum plant height (39.16 cm) and
plant spacing (30×05 cm) were significantly associated, as were the largest number of leaves per plant (17.67),
leaf width (11.54 cm), and leaf area (203.25 cm2). Maximum root length (22.92 cm), root diameter (3.98 cm), root
fresh weight (157.38 g), and TSS (5.76°Brix) were measured at plant spacing (50×15 cm), whereas maximum root
yield (38.05 t/ha) was determined at plant spacing (30×10 cm). Overall, plant spacing of 30 × 10 cm was found to
be the most suitable for achieving maximum root yield, while wider spacing (50 × 15 cm) enhanced root growth,
size, and TSS in Japanese White radish.
